How About Eco-furniture?

How about Eco-furniture?
In these throw away days, when we buy new chairs and lamps to fit with current trends, we are left with unloved and unwanted stocks in auction houses. “Please don’t ask me to keep them” I can hear you ask “I just couldn’t bear looking at that seventies chair any more!”
Well don’t worry, I am not going to ask you to keep them, I am going to tell you about someone that is re-inventing them in a really funky way.
Lucy Renshaw is a designer that also has an environmental conscience. She was concerned about the waste that occurred whenever designers came up with a ‘new look’ and so researched different ideas. She wanted to be able to design delicious desirable pieces without adding to our ‘throw away’ society’.
Her ‘Eureka’ moment came when she experimented with old broken chairs and pieces of beautiful fabric that she had found. Lucy started to design chairs, lamps and cushions using recycled fabrics and parts of old unwanted furniture, but also giving it a ‘wow’ factor and design appeal, and boy is she good at it!!
If you are looking for ‘Grand Designs’ with an ethical twist, then contact Lucy. She has pieces for you to look at, but will design bespoke pieces for you on request.
Amazingly, her pieces are affordable to all of us and so why not sort out some of your Christmas presents by buying a gorgeous lamp or cushion and feel good about helping the environment at the same time!
